Leadership

BGCSF is a nationally recognized leader in youth development, winning three of the seven National Program Excellence awards given out in 2009. The leadership team in charge of Camp has over 60 years of leadership experience with Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco and Camp Mendocino.



Camp Director: Rebecca Randall

Rebecca Randall became the Camp Director in 2009. She is a Clinical Social Worker who worked for two years at BGCSF’s Willie Mays Boys & Girls Club at Hunters Point and Visitacion Valley Clubhouse as a Behavioral Health Specialist. Prior to that, she worked at Seneca, a community and residential-based service center serving emotionally troubled children and their families. Rebecca Randall’s responsibilities include: hiring, training, and orienting all program staff; recruiting Campers and managing the Camp Registrar; ensuring the safety and well-being of all campers and staff; and developing and overseeing Camp programs that are meeting the developmental needs of young people. She reports directly to James Holley.

 

Assistant Camp Director, Programs: Jason Cox

 



Assistant Camp Director, Operations: Wayne Bohlen

Wayne Bohlen has lived and worked at Camp Mendocino for twelve years and is a Camp alumnus. Wayne’s responsibilities include managing the maintenance and development of the Camp property and buildings; the food services program; the Camp medical staff; the Camp Facility Manager; the water treatment system; busing and other transportation; and volunteer work-weekends. Wayne reports directly to James Holley.



Program Manager: Larry Milburn

Larry Milburn has over thirty years experience with Boys & Girls Clubs and is a Camp alumnus. Larry has worked many summers at Camp Mendocino returning in 2009 after several years away. When Larry is not at Camp he is working at one of BGCSF’s Clubhouses. Over the years Larry has worked at the Ernest Ingold, Willie Mays, Visitacion Valley, Sunnydale, and Alice Griffith Clubhouses. A staff member with diverse talents Larry has filled many roles over the years. As Program Manager at Camp Larry is in charge of ensuring that the Camp programs are fun, engaging and developmental. He manages program staff, works directly with campers when needed and supports the Camp Director in all aspects of the Camp. Larry reports to Rebecca Randall.

 

Manager of Camp Adminsitration: Karena Gruber

Karena Gruber started as the Camp Registrar in 2009. Her responsibilities include ensuring a smooth Camp registration process, managing bus departures and arrivals, supervising the assistant registrar, coordinating free physical days, working with Camp’s agency partners, as well as serving as the main contact for Camp rentals. Karena reports directly to Jason Cox.



President, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco: Rob Connolly

Rob Connolly has been overseeing Camp for 10 years. His main responsibilities include fundraising to support a $750,000 operating budget; raising and spending $1.6M of capital funds that are modernizing the Camp; working with the Board, the Purple Kumquats and other volunteers to ensure the Camp continues to get the support it needs; and ensuring that on a year-round basis Camp is meeting the developmental needs of young people.
