Physicals
All campers must have a recent (within 1 year) physical to attend Camp. There are no exceptions! Physicals are very important because they give doctors an opportunity to get to know your child, your family history and other vital facts that are important to his or her health. Please fill out the Health History Form Part 1, (Parent's Form) which is part of your 2012 Camp Application Packet and bring Health History Form Part 2, (Doctor's Form) to your doctor or a health clinic. Forms without doctor’s signatures will not be accepted. Forms must be turned in no later than 5 days prior to session departure date. No forms may be turned in on departure day. No exceptions.
No Doctor? If you live in San Francisco, call San Francisco Health Plan for low to no-cost health insurance at (415) 777-9992. If you are still unable to make an appointment in time, we provide 3 brief exams to help everyone meet this requirement. However, the brief exam is not a substitute for an annual physical. Brief exams locations and dates will be announced in February.
If you cannot make any of those dates, we have provided a list of free and low cost clinics in the bay area here. We recommend you call in advance as it may take several weeks to get an appointment.
Camp Mendocino provides qualified full time medical staff to dispense medications and address health issues that may arise during your child's stay at Camp. We make reasonable accommodations for children with special needs if we are notified when the child is registered for Camp. Please note that Camp Mendocino is an hour away from the nearest hospital.
Please use your best judgment in sending kids with severe medical or health issues. If you are unsure about your child's suitability for Camp please contact the Camp Manager at (415) 445-5477.
Transportation
Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco provides chartered buses from our Treasure Island Clubhouse as part of the price of Camp. Buses depart for Camp at 8:30 a.m. sharp! Buses return from Camp to Treasure Island, arrival times depend on which session and traffic. On the day buses return from Camp, you may call the “Camp Hotline” at (415) 445-5455 to get more information.
Please note that this is a new departure location and all previous locations have been discontinued.

What to Bring to Camp Mendocino
Click here to view a comprehensive packing list. Note: it is strongly recommended that campers do not bring expensive clothing or electronics to Camp Mendocino. Camp is located in a redwood forest and kids are active all day long -- clothing will get dirty. There is no cell phone reception and no secure lock-up (except in the main office), so campers are discouraged from bringing any electronics to Camp.
