Water System Notification

In June 2025, we missed a routine bacteriological sampling deadline required by the State of California. There were no complaints about water quality during that period, our drinking water remained safe, and all other required testing was completed on time and within the required ranges. The formal required notice below is provided to keep our community informed and to explain what we’re doing to prevent a missed deadline in the future.

BACTERIOLOGICAL SAMPLING FAILURE FOR CAMP MENDOCINO

Our water system failed to conduct the required routine bacteriological sampling during June 2025, pursuant to the regulations, and, therefore, was in violation of the regulations. Even though this failure was not an emergency, as our customers, you have a right to know what happened, what you should do, and what we did to correct this situation.

What happened?

We are required to monitor your drinking water for total coliform bacteria by collecting at least one drinking water sample every month and having it tested for bacteria. Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not our drinking water meets health standards. During June 2025, we failed to conduct bacteriological sampling of the drinking water. Therefore, we cannot be sure of the quality of our drinking water during that time.

What should I do?

There is nothing you need to do at this time. If you have health issues concerning the consumption of this water, you may wish to consult your doctor.

What are we doing to correct this situation?

We immediately resumed routine bacteriological sampling and confirmed that subsequent results are within required standards. To prevent missing a deadline in the future, we are implementing the following measures: a compliance calendar with advance reminders and deadlines; designated primary and backup compliance leads responsible for monthly sampling; and increased communication with our local state water board representative to ensure continued compliance. These steps are designed to ensure on-time sampling every month going forward.
